Daniil Medvedev Displays an Unsportsmanlike Conduct During Loss at Tokyo Olympics 2020

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has displayed quite a few signs of frustration during the Tokyo Olympics 2020. He had a problem with the scheduling of the matches as they were conducted during the daytime when the temperatures were soaring.

Today, Daniil Medvedev was competing in his men’s doubles match, partnering with Aslan Karatsev. Unfortunately, the Russians lost the match. However, towards the finishing stages of the match, Daniil asked the ball boy to hand him the ball and he hits it hard, high up in the air.

His reaction was a result of the situation of the match. They crashed out in straight sets against the Slovakian pair of Lukas Klein and Filip Polasek. It’s a sad day for Russian tennis as Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev lost their match too.

However, in singles, Daniil is still competing. Although he is struggling with the conditions, he is somehow finding a way to get the job done. After Djokovic, the World No. 2 Russian has been considered the favorite to go the distance.

Reflecting on his season so far, Medvedev had a successful run in Melbourne, finishing as the finalist at the Australian Open. After that, he had a great run at the French Open, reaching the quarterfinal for the first time. Prior to that, Daniil had never won a main draw match at Roland Garros. At the Wimbledon Championships, he lost in the fourth round to Hubert Hurkacz.

Now that the focus is on the Tokyo Olympics 2020, we wish Daniil the very best and hope he can make his country proud. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs in the upcoming matches.
