There were no fans present, nor was there anyone the cheer but that did not stop Simone Biles from delivering yet another scintillating opener at the Olympic Games. ‘The GOAT’ was heavily favoured to win all gold medals in Tokyo this year and she began with a strong performance, choosing the floor routine as an opener.
Not only did Biles warm up with the double pike, but also brought energy to the empty stands by perfuming her routine to Tokyo Drift, the soundtrack of the ‘Fast and Furious’ movie of the same name that has grown to become a cult classic.

Simone Biles is blessed with energy and every bit of momentum is channelled into her moves. A gymnast is expected to be in control at all times and that’s exactly what she has mastered. She somehow managed to keep her nerves in the air through the spins and landed elegantly on the other corner of the mat.
She did go off course for a split second when one of her run-ups resulted in her jumping off the mat itself due to the momentum, but she quickly got back in it and drew the attention away with more of her expertise within the mat.

Simone Biles lost out to Vanessa Ferrari in the scorings
Even though her performance was the highlight of the event, she fell second to Vanessa Ferrari of Italy, who was given a 14.166 score as compared to Biles’ 14.133. The two will certainly be competing for the gold in the event while Biles looks to demonstrate more of her talent in the other events, especially the vault.

Lots of claps after all her lands. Silent other than music during routines and announcers.

The balance beam can be the decider in some ways but nothing seems to affect this set of talented gymnasts who look to make it to the podium. Simone Biles herself once more dawned the iconic leotard with the GOAT emblem encrusted with crystals behind.
This has become stable with her and many regard Biles as the greatest gymnast of all time, not only due to her immense medal tally but also due to her flawless expertise and barrier-breaking skills. Not too long ago, she managed to execute the Yurchenko double pike, a feat which is mostly seen only in male gymnastics.

Only time will tell if Simone Biles makes Tokyo as big if not a bigger success than Rio.
