Freddie Roach Reveals Manny Pacquiao’s Strategy Against Errol Spence Jr.

On August 21, boxing’s greatest icon and the all-time great, Manny Pacquiao will make his much-awaited return to the ring. He will contend with the WBC and IBF welterweight champ, Errol Spence Jr. for his titles, thus looking to dethrone him from his spot.

Many boxing pundits consider this fight as one of Pacquiao’s toughest fights to date. Most of them feel Spence Jr. is a favorite to win this fight, but Pacquiao, who’ll walk in with an underdog status will look forward to turning the tables in his favor.

Recently, ‘Pacman’s coach, Freddie Roach, interacted with Morning Kombat. Here, he revealed his fighter’s strategy for this high-voltage encounter.

I told Manny, ‘Go put this guy [Spence] on his a** in the first round, and the momentum will head your way,” he said.

“We are going to start fast, and we’re going to be ready for 12 hard rounds. He [Spence] better be ready for 12 round fight. He will be ready for Spence,” (h/t Boxing News 24)

The Filippino Senator hasn’t fought in the last two years. But his recent workout regimes and momentum roll out an altogether different message for everyone. He still seems to be in his prime and mirrors a hungry 20-year-old boxer, who’s eager to make his mark in the sport.

That said, Roach in his above comments expanded on how Pacquiao will approach this fight. Roach also warned Spence Jr. and asked him to stay ready. This fight will be one of the fiercest tussles at the 147-pound landscape and it has every chance of going down as the best boxing event of 2021.

Manny Pacquiao or Errol Spence Jr. – Who has an edge in this contest?

Pacquiao is an experienced veteran who has hung around for almost three decades in the game. However, in the last few years, he hasn’t been active with his boxing stint.

As a result, Spence Jr. will unquestionably have an edge over Pacquiao as he’s been a highly active fighter. Despite that, underestimating the boxing legend might put him in some real trouble and ‘The Truth’ would like to avoid the same.

It’ll be exciting to see who among the two men gets their hand raised and eventually leave the ring with the welterweight straps.
