Love Island 2021: Lucinda Strafford and Aaron Francis dumped in couple elimination

Sunday’s Love Island saw a double dumping after Lucinda Strafford and Aaron Francis were eliminated as the least popular duo.

Just days after Georgia Townend left the villa, Liberty Poole received a text alerting the cast to the unexpected dumping and telling them to gather around the firepit ‘immediately’.

Faye’s next text informed the islanders that viewers had been voting for their favourite couple, leaving those with the fewest votes at risk of being dumped from the villa.

New arrival Tyler Cruickshank and his partner Kaz Kamwi were quickly told they were safe from elimination, as was fellow newcomer Abigail Rawlings and her partner Toby Aromolaran.

As the couples nervously stood, the results of the public voting were revealed ‘in no particular order’, with Millie Court and Liam Reardon saved first, before the now officially coupled-up Liberty and Jake with their matching bracelets.

Next saved were friendship couple Chloe Burrows and Hugo Hammond, who seemed visibly shocked following the drama between Hugo and Toby over the latter’s decision to dump Chloe, which resulted in the PE teacher giving him a public piece of his mind.

Faye Winter and Teddy Soares and Lucinda and Aaron were then left as the least popular two couples, before Kaz was forced to deliver the death blow to Lucinda and Aaron’s Love Island journey.

An immediate tearful reaction from Millie saw her brand ‘Cinds her ‘number one gal’ as she lamented the fact that their journey to the end had ‘been taken away’.

Meanwhile, Kaz was upset to see Aaron go as she reflected on how ‘protective’ he had been of her and that he was her first ‘proper, proper guy best friend’.

Aaron and Lucinda headed off together, arms around one another and with a possible future to explore outside the popular series, which is now gearing up for the dramatic introduction of this year’s Casa Amor.

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
