Calling all fans of Netflix’s hit show Lucifer, the release date of the sixth season has finally been announced, and sadly this will be the last series of the show.
While the hell-raising finale for season 5 part 2 only came out a few months ago, viewers already can’t wait to see what lies in store for Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Amenadiel (DB Woodside) when it returns.
The final season premiere date was revealed on Saturday at the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel with Tom and showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovichan.
An announcement video revealed that the streaming giant will be releasing all episodes on September 10.
The trailer pays homage to the first season, as it shows Lucifer reencountering a traffic cop that pulled him over in the show’s pilot episode.
It also includes plenty of glimpses of the Devil utilising the powers of God, but not a lot is given away about the upcoming season.

‘We spoil a lot in our trailers and we like to do that because we like everyone talking. But this is the final season,’ Tom said during the panel.
‘We’re trying to keep our hands really close to the vest. This is the last year that we have secrets [and] can surprise people.’
The panel hinted at the return of a popular guest star from a previous season as well as the introduction of a character who has only been talked about on the show.
They also discussed some favourite moments from season five and announced that Lucifer will work for the Los Angeles Police Department in the final season.
‘So much of the story of season five was maturing and growing up,’ Joe said.
‘There is so much to explore when you get to the moment where you think you’re done. You think you’ve become the person you’re trying to become. That became really interesting to explore.’
If fans are hoping for a surprise renewal, they shouldn’t hold their breath, as Joe has shut down those theories.
Lucifer wasn’t originally planned to last six seasons as Netflix originally renewed it for a fifth and final season after its fourth season. However, just as production on the series finale began, Netflix and Warner Bros. changed direction and ordered a sixth and final season.
To accommodate the abrupt change, Joe and Ildy cut off season five and used that to inspire 10 more episodes.

‘This is it, the final season of Lucifer. For real this time,’ reads the official synopsis.
‘The devil himself has become God… almost. Why is he hesitating? And as the world starts to unravel without a God, what will he do in response? Join us as we say a bittersweet goodbye to Lucifer, Chloe, Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, Ella and Dan. Bring tissues.’
Netflix will air all episodes of the final season of Lucifer September 10.
