Bizarre Pokémon Unite glitch makes Machamp naked

Behold: Machamp’s oddly flat butt in it all its unnatural glory (Picture: Twitter)

Technically it’s always nude, but an unfortunate Pokémon Unite glitch forced one player to see Machamp’s bare bottom.

While fans appear to be enjoying Pokémon Unite overall, the game is not without faults or points of criticism. Aside from a confusing amount of in-game currencies and pay-to-win tactics, it’s riddled with a number of bugs, and we’re not talking about bug pokémon.

One bug in particular has been making the rounds online and while it doesn’t appear to be game-breaking or anything like that, it’s bizarre enough to attract people’s attention.

Specifically, it involves the pokémon Machamp or rather Machamp’s butt. One unlucky player experienced a visual bug that not only seemed to turn Machamp the wrong way round, but it removed his trunks, putting his bare bottom on full display.

Technically speaking, Machamp doesn’t actually wear clothes. An official Japanese Pokémon website outright states that Machamp’s ‘clothes’ are actually part of its skin.

It’s difficult to tell since we can’t see Machamp’s front, but it could be some kind of rendering issue and the character model is being displayed in an unfinished state.

Machamp isn’t the only pokémon to have been affected either. Other players have shared their own examples in response to the now viral Tweet. In one instance, Talonflame seems to be subjected to the same bug, with it facing backward except for its eyes. Plus, it’s coloured completely yellow instead of the usual combination of red, black, yellow, and white.

Someone’s Charizard wound up being turned pink and had its face horribly distorted to the point where it looks like another pokémon is trying to break out of it. In all these instances, the players’ trainer avatars were also affected, causing parts of their faces to just vanish.

Pokémon Unite is available on Nintendo Switch. It will release for Android and iOS on September 21.
