Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Is Mightily Impressed With Dak Prescott at Training Camp

The Dallas Cowboys had a torrid 2020 NFL season. Losing star quarterback Dak Prescott to a gruesome ankle injury early on, America’s Team finished with a woeful 6-10 record.

The future surrounding the quarterback’s time at Dallas was uncertain as well. After playing the 2020 campaign on the franchise tag, there were rumors that Prescott might have played his last game for the franchise.

But that was not to be the case. Signing the quarterback to a bumper new four-year contract, Prescott’s future is now well and truly at Dallas. Taking a chance on the quarterback despite his injury, Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones has displayed his trust in Dak Prescott.

And now nearing full fitness, the Cowboys owner is excited and hopeful from what he’s seen from Dak Prescott at training camp so far.

The Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off their training camps before anyone else in the league due to their upcoming Hall of Fame game. And with Dak Prescott now back in the mix, Jerry Jones made a keen observation about his franchise QB.

“I thought Dak Prescott had the best day of practice that I’ve seen since he’s been a Dallas Cowboy yesterday,” Jones said on Sunday while talking to the Dallas Morning News“That’s the best day I’ve seen him practice. That’s encouraging.”

That sure is encouraging given that Dak Prescott was spotted on a wheelchair not long ago. Requiring two surgeries on his knee, the QB has now been taking part in most of his side’s non-contact drills.

There are two other players the Cowboys are waiting to return as well. Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and wide receiver Amari Cooper are both undergoing rehab for back and ankle injuries respectively.

Both are currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list for training camp. But Jerry Jones said that he both players to be ready by their second preseason game on August 13 against the Arizona Cardinals.
