Tennis legends inspire PV Sindhu to do better

It is not an uncommon practice to take inspiration from athletes playing different sports. Sindhu, too, has described her idols from tennis and soccer. However, Sindhu’s two tennis idols, Serena Williams and Roger Federer, are not playing at the Tokyo Olympics.

Serena believes she can do it, being a woman, being a mother. She’s done exceptionally well, she’s a strong woman. Whereas, Federer, is another legend. Maintaining that level till now, at his age, is not easy. He’s been there at the top,” Sindhu said.

In Tokyo, Sindhu has won her first-round match against Ksenia Polikarpova of Israel with ease. She won 21-7, 21-10 and will be looking to continue her fine form.
