Valtteri Bottas Supports ‘Hero’ Road Cyclist Girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell at 2020 Tokyo Olympics

The end of the British Grand Prix kick-started a long two-week break before F1 flags off round 11 of this season at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hence, it may have been a rather quiet Sunday for most of the drivers, last weekend. However, Valtteri Bottas wasn’t one of them.

Despite not racing last weekend, the Finn was not short of action, thanks to his girlfriend, Tiffany Cromwell. The Australian is part of the ongoing Olympics 2020 at Tokyo, with her fight for gold entitled to road cycling.

The 33-year-old pedaled her heart out on Sunday, hoping to secure a medal for Australia. Unfortunately, her dream fell short as she managed a distant yet highly impressive P26 in the final race; Anna Kiesenhofer from Austria won the race, clocking a lap time of 3:52:45.

Tiffany finished the race in 3:55:41, just three minutes short of the gold medalist. However, Bottas was constantly showering enough support to his girlfriend through social media throughout the race.

How Valtteri Bottas and his partner reacted after the event?

Following the end of the race, the Mercedes F1 driver wrote, “So proud. #nevergiveup.” Similar to the Finn, there was a positive reaction from Tiffany herself as well, despite being denied a medal at Tokyo.

She wrote, “What a day, what a race. That’s the Tokyo 2020 Women’s road race done and dusted. We came into the race with a strong team with big ambitions and big goals.

“Unfortunately, our race didn’t quite pan out in the way we had hoped. But that’s bike racing and sometimes things go perfect, other times you get hit with curveballs.”

With Tiffany’s outing in Tokyo ending last weekend, the limelight returns to Bottas, who is looking forward to the race weekend at Hungaroring, later this week. The Finn has been a constant podium contender this season but is yet to win a race.

With Bottas being the only driver of Red Bull and Mercedes yet to secure a win, he will be urging to accomplish that over the weekend in Hungary. Of course, winning the race amidst Red Bull’s threat seems far-fetched, but can Bottas defy the odds to claim P1?
