Britney Spears’ lawyer has submitted a petition naming the person to become her conservator as her legal battle continues.

New court documents show her lawyer Mathew Rosengart has requested that accountant Jason Rubin become conservator of the singer’s estate if Britney’s wish for her dad Jamie to be removed is granted.

The papers state that if the musician ‘has sufficient capacity to choose her own legal counsel, she likewise has sufficient capacity to make this nomination.’

Her father has acted as her co-conservator since the conservatorship began in 2008.

The Stronger hitmaker previously won a legal victory in the ongoing proceedings as she was allowed to hire her own lawyer, with the star opting for Rosengart.

In an emotional and explosive testimony during a hearing in Los Angeles, the 39-year-old added that she wanted Jamie charged with conservatorship abuse.

In June, the Womanizer singer shocked the world when she shared details of her conservatorship in court testimony, alleging she was not allowed to remove her IUD in a bid to start a family with boyfriend Sam Asghari.

The star is hoping to have all restrictions lifted and to regain control over her personal and financial decisions by having the conservatorship removed after 13 years.

On Monday a daring snap was posted from Britney’s Instagram account, showing her topless outdoors with her head thrown back and hands cupping her bare breasts.

She only wrote three sparkle emojis in the picture caption, a reference to the bright points of light jokingly edited onto her nipples.

The Piece Of Me singer recently posted an Instagram video of herself dancing with joy after she got to drive herself for the first time in ‘a while’.

What is a conservatorship?

A conservatorship is a legal concept in the United States that places someone under the legal protection of an appointed adult.

A guardian or a protector is appointed by a judge to manage different aspects of someone’s life, from their financial affairs to their daily life.

One is usually appointed a conservator if they are suffering from physical or mental issues or declining with age.

A planned conservatorship lasts as long as it is needed, and ends when a conservatee is considered no longer in need of a conservator, for example, if a person is unable to care for their self because of a medical condition, the conservatorship will end when he is treated or recovers sufficiently to care for himself again.

If a conservatorship is unplanned, a court will also assign a caseworker for the conservatee.

The caseworker will remain in contact with the conservator and make certain that the transition goes well, regularly checking on the status of all involved.

Britney vowed to keep speaking out about her situation – and warned that she’s ‘not even close’ to being done.

The singer took to Instagram to tell her followers: ‘So I said “life goes on” in one of my recent posts but it’s always easier said than done!!!!!

‘In that moment that’s what felt was the easiest to say but I think we all know that I will never be able to let go and fully move on until I’ve said all I needed to say … and I’m not even close!!!!’

She added: ‘I was told to stay quiet about things for so long and I finally feel like I’m just getting here.’
