Sweet success as Bake Off: The Professionals 2021 winners revealed after ‘incredibly close’ final

The winners of Bake Off: The Professionals have been crowned after nine weeks of technically brilliant bakes, towering treats, Cherish Finden put-downs and calamitous collapsing cakes.
The closely-fought final on Tuesday night saw Michael and Andrew of Gin & Bake named the winners of the 2021 series.
After their incredible triumph, Michael said: ‘Even getting to the final was an acheivement but to win is next level.’
The final saw Michael and Andrew, Julien and Elise of Julien Plumart and Kevin and Maria Vittoria from The Lanesborough face off one last time for the trophy.
In a series of typically tough tasks the bakers had to whip up hats made from chocolate – which the teams then modelled – and a glorious, awards ceremony banquet for 60 people that was a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth.
Like the usual version of Bake Off, the goal on The Professionals is to make the best bake and be named star baker at the end of each episode, and hopefully win the coveted trophy at the end.
The difference is that the professional chefs get to work in teams and the challenges are much, much tougher. And because baking is their day job, the judges are a lot more unforgiving if mistakes are made or flavours fall flat.
The new series has already seen plenty of drama, with chefs from Bristol, Norfolk, Brighton and London taking on such daunting challenges as reinventing the jaffa cake and whipping up 24 tarte piémontaise.
Bake Off: The Professionals is available to stream on All 4.
