Fern Britton has opened up about the difficult few years she’s faced after losing her parents and now getting used to being single after her split from Phil Vickery.
However, the star is also embracing the single life, insisting she’s ‘not lonely’.
The former couple announced they were divorcing after two decades of marriage in January this year, with Fern now saying: ‘I’m not afraid of change…The last three years have been very hard; I lost my parents, I lost my marriage.
‘I lost my other home in Buckinghamshire, too, because Phil lives there now and I’m in Cornwall. But the magic I’ve found here is incredible’
The 64-year-old added to Good Housekeeping as she covers the September issue: ‘I’m not lonely but I’m in this transition period where I’m working out what’s next for me.’
Fern went on to say that the world is now her ‘oyster’ so it’s safe to say she’s staying optimistic.

Fern’s mother, Ruth Britton, died in January 2019. Her father, actor Tony Britton, died in December the same year.
Meanwhile, the star announced her split from Phil, 60, last year, telling fans: ‘After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways.
‘We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.’

Fern also has twins Harry and Jack, 26, and daughter Grace, 23, from her first marriage to TV executive Clive Jones.

Following the split, Fern explained that she’s not looking for love and is enjoying the single life too much to be on the lookout for someone new.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Fern revealed: ‘I am enjoying not having to share life with somebody else… I’m not a man hater – men are great, [but] I don’t think I’m prepared to hand over my autonomy just yet.’
