**Warning: Contains spoilers for Lucifer season six**
The sixth and final season of Netflix’s Lucifer is right around the corner and, in a shocking twist, a dead character will be making a comeback.
While the hell-raising finale for season 5 part 2 only came out a few months ago, viewers already can’t wait to see what lies in store for Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Amenadiel (DB Woodside) when it returns.
The final season premiere date of September 10 was revealed at the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel with Tom and showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovichan.
Now sneak peek photos from the final season have revealed that the late Detective Daniel Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) will be making an appearance.
So far we know that Amenadiel (DB Woodside) has followed through on his desire to join the LAPD and it seems he has a special mentor in the late detective.

Daniel was a central character on Lucifer and worked as a member of the LAPD. He was also the ex-husband of Chloe and father of daughter Trixie.
Actor Kevin previously told TVLine that he had suggested that his character die a meaningful death in season five, which was meant to be the show’s final season.
But when Netflix gave the showrunners a surprising sixth season at the last minute, show creators Joe and Ildy immediately jumped on the phone, saying they knew how to bring his character back ‘respectfully’.
‘I wanted to be with these relationships and with these people to the very end…. Joe and Ildy respected that, and thankfully they wanted me to be a part of it as well,’ he said.

‘So they found a gentle way to bring me back — not the way people are going to expect him to come back, and maybe not as a huge part of the show. But I got to be there for the end in some capacity.’
Ildy added: ‘We could not do another season without Detective Douche. We refuse to. So, yeah, we found a story for him that we just love.’

Fans will remember that Daniel was murdered near the end of season five by French Mercenaries, which was part of a plan to instil guilt in Chloe so that she would go to Hell.
After his murder, it was revealed Dan wound up in Hell himself, so could he be a devil on Amenadiel’s shoulder?
The sixth and final season of Lucifer airs September 10 on Netflix.
