Love Island star Georgia Townend has criticised Hugo Hammond’s ‘performative’ recoupling speech while revealing some interesting secrets of life in the villa.

The 28-year-old marketing executive had entered the villa as a bombshell alongside Tyler Cruickshank and Abigail Rawlings, but unfortunately was eliminated after she was not picked by any of the boys during the previous recoupling.

She was one of the last two girls left standing, alongside Chloe Burrows, who Hugo chose to couple up with.

During his speech, he blasted Toby Aromolaran for not treating his previous partner right, when his pal opted to recouple with Abigail, after her arrival sparked tension between him and Chloe.

The speech led to a fallout between Hugo and Toby, and also caused divided opinions amongst the other islanders.

Georgia has now spoken out on what Hugo had to say, and she believes it was ‘inappropriate’ and ‘more for Chloe’s benefit’ than Toby’s.

During a Q&A on Instagram Stories, one follower asked: ‘Do you think Hugo was right in calling Toby out in front of everyone?’

She responded: ‘It’s a hard question to avoid, but in short, no. I thought it was inappropriate, I thought it was performative and more for Chloe’s benefit than actually holding Toby to account.’

Referencing the fact that Toby had previously cracked on with Chloe while still coupled up with Kaz Kamwi, she went on: ‘Otherwise where was the same outrage for Kaz?’

‘I think Toby would have been more receptive to the feedback if it was done on a one-on-one basis.’

Georgia also revealed that she, Tyler and Abigail entered the villa at 3:30am, and were surprised to find the islanders were all eating during this time.

However, she did admit that the night before she entered the villa, she was ‘pumped full of adrenaline’ and was ‘tossing and turning’ as she attempted to sleep.

She explained that it ‘doesn’t get properly dark’ in Majorca until around 11pm at night, so most of the night-time shots seen on the show would be filmed after that time.

As a result, the islanders experience ‘very late nights, but lay-ins in the morning’.

Georgia was also asked by a fan on whether or not she packed her own stuff ‘as if you were going on a normal holiday’, and she revealed that she printed out of all the outfits she planned to take with her, so she didn’t have to ‘rifle through my wardrobe every day’.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
