In a brilliant twist of fate, Joe Tracini’s nonsensical Olympics commentary has landed him a job as an actual Olympics commentator.

Sometimes, the world is a wonderful place.

The comedian and former Hollyoaks actor has been snapped up by Eurosport UK to ‘legally talk over the Olympics’, after his alternative commentary for the men’s gymnastics went viral.

The 33-year-old shared his brilliant commentary over Max Whitlock’s horizontal bar routine during the qualification round and tweeted: ‘Long story short, it’s literally against the law for me to do more of these, because @discoveryplusUK own the UK rights to the Olympics.

‘So I’m delighted to be joining the team @Eurosport_UK tomorrow to LEGALLY TALK OVER THE OLYMPICS.’

Joe added: ‘Just to clarify… This is an actual thing that’s happening, & I’m partnering with Eurosport & Discovery+, they’re the same family, and I’ll be appearing across both platforms.

#SweetChilli #NoParking.’

The Discovery+ Twitter account responded: ‘Can’t wait to see your commentary tomorrow, Joe! Great to be working with you! Lots of love, discovery+ (where you can watch @Eurosport_UK… )’

Fans of the actor celebrated the news, with some saying they’d be tuning into the Olympics for the first time ever to hear Joe’s take on proceedings.

It is unclear what event Joe will be narrating, but the men’s floor and pommel horse and the women’s vault and uneven bars events take place tomorrow, so we could be getting a repeat of his incredible gymnastics commentary.

Last week, Joe mocked the rather confusing vocabulary of Olympic expert commentators as he provided his own spin on things over Team GB’s Max Whitlock’s horizontal bars performance.

Opening up things by saying the gymnast was ‘on the curtain rail’, highlights of Joe’s commentary included ‘folds like a crepe, semi-detached bungalow’, ‘luxury balloon vol-au-vent, custard cream, nice hor d’oeuvre, let down by the biscuit’, ‘eskimo in a kayak’ and ’16 hamsters, called them all Dave’.

Long story short, it’s literally against the law for me to do more of these, because @discoveryplusUK own the UK rights to the Olympics.

The video has got 3.8million views on Twitter and a host of celebrity fans, with Thor director Taika Waititi sharing the clip with the quote: ‘Anus down.’

Dawn French called Joe a ‘genius’, while Lorraine Kelly tweeted: ‘I have watched this so many times – gets funnier and funnier – chortling and giggling – love you @joetracini.’

Even Max Whitlock himself was in stitches, replying: ‘Haha brilliant’, with Joe tweeting: ‘Thank you, actual Max Whitlock. You’re amazing mate, good luck over there.’

After the video went viral, Joe, who has been open about his diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, thanked everyone for their responses, writing: ‘Dear one million people that watched this in less than 24 hours.

‘I’ve got a bit of my brain that makes me hate me, then convinces me that everybody else hates me as much as I do. That bit is broken, thanks for reminding me that it’s a lying piece of s***e.’

Joe, the son of comedian Joe Pasquale, became a social media sensation during lockdown thanks to his hilarious dance tutorials.

The actor previously played Dennis Savage on Hollyoaks, and has appeared on CBBC shows including The Dengineers and Saturday Mash-Up!
