AEW Superstar Mark Henry Reveals WWE Didn’t Want Him to Make In-Ring Return

Mark Henry made his shocking debut on Tony Khan’s promotion at AEW: Double or Nothing earlier this year. Since then he has openly discussed the fact that he felt like he can still pull off brilliant matches.

For now, there is no confirmed timeline regarding Henry’s in-ring return, but he has made it clear in the past that he will wrestle at AEW. Henry had been working a lot on himself and has shed a tremendous amount of weight just to get action-ready.

Mark Henry said he had “more” to give to WWE before joining AEW

During his latest appearance on the AEW Unrestricted Podcast, former World Champion talked about the time when he was making for WWE to bring him back to the ring.

He said that he was preparing for his in-ring return and was working hard on himself. Henry added that he clearly told the authorities that he might jump ship to other places if not given ring time at WWE. And that’s what happened.

He said, “I alluded to the fact that, where I was working before that, you know, for what I was doing, it was not enough for me, that I was going to have to look for work elsewhere.

Hendy added, “I was told, you know, ‘I mean, that’s, that’s what you gotta do. You gotta look out for your family, I understand.’ I said, ‘But you know I’m competitive. I want to win and prove to you and everybody else that my efforts don’t go unnoticed.”

“I didn’t become a world champion in three different sports by accident. And a national champion four times in another sport.” (H/T: Fightful). Mark Henry’s last WWE appearance was at the ‘Raw Legends Night’ special earlier this year.

He showed up at the arena on the scooter as he couldn’t walk properly because of the wear and tear his body endured during his long career in pro-wrestling, he then stumbled upon Randy Orton who humiliated Henry for limping and using a scooter to help him travel.
