Halo: Infinte Technical Preview: Comparing Its Performance on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One X|S

Halo: Infinite is launching in a few months and the game had its first technical preview yesterday. There was a framerate test done on the consoles the game will release on. The consoles that were tested yesterday are Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. And thankfully, the game ran fine on all consoles. But when you compare the performance, the Xbox series X and the Series S take the cake.

Halo: Infinite tech preview: how did each console fare?

Xbox One S

On the Xbox One S, the game is supposed to run at a steady 30 FPS at 1080p. While the console did manage to run the game at 30 FPS, there were some FPS drops here and there. And additionally, there was also some minor stuttering as well. The game runs just fine on the console, but players shouldn’t expect a completely flawless experience.

Xbox One X

Halo: Infinite running on Xbox One X comes with a 30 FPS cap just like One S, but this time the resolution is a lot higher. The game runs at 4K on the console, and there seems to be no stuttering or FPS drops on the Xbox One X.

Xbox Series S

On the Series S, the game will run at 1080p, but since this console is much newer, it can manage 120 FPS. The game looks great, and unless you specifically want a 4K experience, this is the console you want to play the game on.

Xbox Series X

The Series X is a beast that was made with 4K gaming in mind. On this console, the game will come with a 120 FPS cap, just like the Xbox Series S, but it will run at 4K. For the most part, the console does a great job running the game. The graphics also look stunning. But, unfortunately, there’s often a drop in FPS. This means that though the console manages to get 120 FPS sometimes, other times the game is running at around 110 FPS, occasionally dipping below that amount.

For the best experience, players should get the game on either the Xbox Series S or the Xbox series X. Both consoles perform really well at the resolution they’re supposed to run the game at. And while there are some frame drops on the Xbox Series X, the console still manages to keep things over 100 FPS.

Halo: Infinite is set to come out later this year.
