Piers Morgan’s son Spencer Morgan followed in his father’s footsteps by calling out Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray in a row over Simone Biles and Ben Stokes.

TV presenter Adil weighed into the heated debate over gymnast Biles’ decision to pull out after one rotation of the women’s team final at the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health.

It followed a similar move from tennis star Naomi Osaka last month, leaving both women subjected to abhorrent abuse and criticism.

Cricketer Ben Stokes has become the latest sports star to pull out of a tournament over his mental health, but appears to have received little criticism compared to his Black female counterparts.

Pointing this out, Adil tweeted: ‘Have those who bullied Naomi Osaka & Simone Biles gone after Ben Stokes yet? They don’t tend to go after men like him do they? Funny that.

‘Take all the time you need legend. Wishing you a healthy recovery and we’ll all be waiting should you wish to carry that bat & ball again.’

Spencer quote tweeted in response to Adil: ‘Fakest virtue signaling gimp in the game.’

He had earlier supported Stokes’ decision to quit cricket indefinitely, telling his Twitter followers: ‘In an absolutely shocking turn of events nobody is labelling Stokes some sort of hero (cos he’s a white man) so I don’t have to. All the best to him. Great guy.’

Piers had previously come under fire for his criticism of Biles pulling out of part of the Olympics, after he wrote in a column for the Daily Mail: ‘She quit. The world’s greatest ever gymnast just gave up at the first hurdle of these Olympics.

‘She left her team to fight on without their leader and supreme motivational champion, and rather than win the Gold medal they were hot favourites to win.

‘When you quit, you were performing as part of a gymnastics team, not yourself. What exactly is so courageous, heroic or inspiring about quitting on your team and country in an Olympics.’

The former GMB presenter continued: ‘Simone Biles was so traumatised by her experience that she reappeared, all smiles, a little later to cheer her on the team she’d abandoned as they tried and failed to win the Gold they’d have almost certainly won if she’d stayed and battled on.

‘That’s a weird optic for a sporting champion, isn’t it?’
