Sean Strickland Puts the Middleweight Division on Notice With a Dominant Win Over Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 33

A middleweight fight between Sean Strickland and Uriah Hall headlined the card at UFC Vegas 33. This was the first time in his career that Strickland headlined a card and he made sure to maximize the opportunity given to him. ‘Tarzan’ secured an impressive unanimous decision win to extend his win streak to 5-0 in the UFC.

The fight card in itself was stacked with some incredible fights. Unfortunately, the event was reduced to 10 fights as five flights were canceled due to various reasons. Nonetheless, the fighters on the card made sure to put on a show for the fans watching at home.

Going into the fight against Hall, Strickland was ranked 11th in the UFC’s middleweight division. Hall on the other hand was ranked 8th. The fight was a big risk for Hall taking on someone ranked lower than him. Unfortunately for him, the gamble did not pay off.

Strickland came into the fight on the back of a four-fight win streak that included wins over the likes of Brendan Allen, Krzysztof Jotko among others. Hall was without a doubt the most experienced fighter he had ever faced and his toughest test to date. It is safe to say that Strickland passed his test with flying colors and proved that he very much belongs among the very best at 185-pounds.

Over the course of the fight, Strickland landed a monstrous 221 total strikes with an accuracy of 47%. He also landed a mind-boggling 186 significant strikes with an accuracy of 43%. ‘Tarzan’ showed his well-rounded game by securing four of six takedowns against Hall on his way to a lopsided unanimous decision win.

Strickland will find himself in the top 10 at middleweight when the revised rankings come out on Tuesday. He is now on a five-fight win streak and makes a legitimate claim for a title shot at 185-pounds. However, he will have to secure a win or two more before a title shot for him is undeniable. ‘Tarzan’s’ next fight in the UFC will most definitely be against a top-ranked middleweight.
