UFC Vegas 33 Down to 10 Fights After Co-Main Event Between Rani Yahya and Kyung Ho Kang Is Canceled

A middleweight clash between Sean Strickland and Uriah Hall will headline UFC Vegas 33. The card that initially started out with 15 fights has now been reduced to 10. Over the course of the week, multiple fights had to be canceled due to positive COVID test, missed weight, and others factors.

Just a few hours prior to the start of the event it was announced that two fights had been canceled. The co-main event between UFC veteran Rani Yahya and Kyung Ho Kang was scrapped from the fight card as Yahya tested positive for COVID-19. Jared Gooden vs. Niklas Stolze was also scrapped to keep in line with COVID protocols. However, the promotion later backtracked and added the fight back to the card.

Following the fight cancellation, Yahya released a statement on his Instagram account. He said, “Hey, guys, my fight just got canceled,” Yahya wrote. “I tested positive for the COVID-19 test that was made yesterday. I feel very good physically, and I believe that everything happens for a reason. Thank you all for the support”
