Williams’ Jack Aitken Offers Much-needed Health Update After Near-Fatal Crash at Spa

In yesterday’s 24-hour race at Spa, there was a horrible crash, which included, Williams’ reserve driver, Jack Aitken. However, the Brit is alright as the injuries that he sustained, weren’t life-threatening. He took to Twitter to thank those who wished him well and gave an update on his situation.

The 25-year-old is now focused on getting back to a hundred percent and get back in the car, and go racing again. He is confident that with the people around and with their love and support he will make a speedy recovery.

Aitken gives an update after the horrible crash at Spa

He wrote, “First of all, thank you to everyone who has supported me in the last 16 hours or so, from the marshalls, medical staff trackside and at the hospital, my wonderful team, fellow drivers, and all of you sending messages. All things considered, I feel fine and quite lucky.”

I’ve broken my collarbone, and fractured a vertebrae but it’s stable fortunately. The aim now is to get back to the UK and start to recover as best as possible, and be back in the car soon. I’m sure with the people around me I’ll manage it just fine!

Aitken added, “I’ve broken my collarbone, and fractured a vertebrae but it’s stable fortunately. The aim now is to get back to the UK and start to recover as best as possible, and be back in the car soon. I’m sure with the people around me I’ll manage it just fine!”

A missed opportunity at Williams for Aitken?

The rumors of George Russell leaving the Grove-based outfit for Mercedes is ramping up. This means that the team would have to find a replacement, top of their list is Aitken, who is their reserve driver and would fit perfectly alongside, Nicholas Latifi.

However, with such an injury, a timeline can’t be established for the Brit’s recovery. Hence, with uncertainty looming over Aitken, Williams might look elsewhere.

But, Aitken is confident that he will be back behind the wheel in no time, and will be ready if he gets the call from the Grove-based outfit. We hope to see Jack make a full recovery and bounce back from the incident at Spa, and wish to see him in F1 with Williams in the near future.
