Eurovision winner Lordi gets his second Covid jab in Santa Claus’ ‘official’ hometown

Mr. Lordi has received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The 2006 Eurovision star, who won the competition alongside his bandmates with their epic hit Hard Rock Hallelujah, is a formidable sight but he looked very comfortable as he got his jab at a pop-up centre in his hometown of Rovaniemi, Finland.

‘They put a big needle in my arm, and that’s exactly why I came here. This was my second vaccine dose,’ he told Yle.

While the monster rockers have had to cancel tour dates plenty of times during the pandemic, the group has seen some benefits to lockdown.

The frontman – whose real name is Tomi Petteri Putaansuu – revealed they have been very productive with their songwriting and have enough for several full length records.

He added: ‘There’s also good sides to all of this. It’s given us an opportunity to be creative. We’ve recorded seven albums [during the epidemic].’

To make this whole situation even more bizarre and exciting, Lordi shares a hometown with Santa Claus, who also turned up as part of the event.

Father Christmas had already already received both doses much earlier due to his old age, but he turned up at the vaccination centre to encourage people to do the same.

There’s no word on whether or not he could collaborate with Lordi on their new material, but we wouldn’t rule anything out.

When it comes to the new material and being production during lockdown, the rock star previously said: ‘Within a week when the Killectour was cut short in March 2020, I realised we’re gonna have to use the sudden extra time somehow.

‘It was clear that it is the time to start planning the new album, even though Killection was released not even two months before.’

With that album being a ‘fictional compilation album from a fictional back catalogue that doesn’t exist’, he decided the next best thing would be to actually release that entire collection.

He added: ‘[By Halloween 2021] the fictional back catalogue will be no longer fictional, it actually will exist… at least for the most part. My original idea was to release 10 albums, but the label said that is insane. But seven is a number they felt that is somewhat sane!’
