Hayes Grier – an influencer who appeared on Dancing With The Stars in the US – has been arrested following an alleged assault that left a man with brain damage.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed 21-year-old Grier, who has a home in Encino, California, was detained Friday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina, on warrants.

According to TMZ, he faces three charges: felony conspiracy, common law robbery, and assault causing serious bodily injury. He was released after posting $17,500 (£12.5k) bond.

Grier is accused of assaulting William Markolf as well as stealing his $1,200 (£862) phone, however the cause of the alleged assault has not been determined.

Police state Markolf was left with injuries including a broken eyeball socket, brain damage, bruised ribs, bleeding from the back of the head, and loss of hearing following the alleged assault.

Grier rose to fame in 2013 on now-defunct social media platform Vine, and is now a popular influencer on Instagram, where he boasts 5.6million followers, and YouTube, where he has 882,000 subscribers.
