Lily Allen has said she and her father Keith haven’t spoken ‘in a while’ as she opened up on their relationship.

The Smile hitmaker, who’s starring in a new West End show, comes from a creative family, with her dad Keith being an actor and TV presenter.

Her mother, Alison, is a producer, and her brother, Alfie, is an actor, best known for his role as Theon Greyjoy in Game Of Thrones.

Asked what her father thinks of her new role in the play 2:22 – A Ghost Story, she told The Telegraph: ‘I haven’t really spoken to him, to be honest, for a while.

‘The last time I texted him was on Father’s Day and he texted back saying “Thank you”. We haven’t connected for a while.’

She added that her mum has been supportive of the role.

Lily, who’s married to Stranger Things star David Harbour, has kept her family life fairly private, but previously referenced her father ‘walking out’ when she was four.

The 36-year-old also opened up about a disagreement they had about her memoir, in which she claimed he had a ‘cocaine-induced heart attack’ in 1998 when she was 14.

However the singer later revealed her father read that particular excerpt and he denied it was so, claiming he instead suffered ‘acute food poisoning.’

While Lily appeared to laugh off her dad’s ‘angry text message’ sent in response, she later said that they hadn’t been in contact since.

Keith, 69, has starred in dramas like Marcella and The Pembrokeshire Murders.

Lily, who recently celebrated two years of sobriety, has her own two daughters – Marnie and Ethel – who she shares with her ex-husband Sam Cooper.

Actor David revealed that the two little ones were a huge part of the reason he asked Lily to marry him, with the pair tying the knot in September 2020.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he explained that they were all out on a bike ride, musing over what they were going to do for the next year as lockdown began.

The 46-year-old continued: ‘And the little one was riding along and she was going like, “David, dad, Dav- dad”, because the ‘D’ got her confused.

‘And the older one got very upset with that, which I understand, and was like, “He’s not our dad! He’s not our dad!”’

‘And then younger one was like, “Well, what is he? He’s kind of our dad.”’

He then detailed how Lily’s eldest daughter was neither happy with David being referred to as either their dad or stepdad, confusing the younger Marnie.

‘And she [Marnie] goes, “What is he?”. And she [Ethel] goes, “He’s just some guy in our lives!’”

David said: ‘I was like, “I need to marry this woman”… Because the emotional fallout!’
