“We’re Trying to have Two Really Strong Cars” – Rick Ware Outline his Future Plans for his Cup Team
In the 2021 season, the Rick Ware Racing team has not been as quick as its rivals. In a recent interview, Rick Ware spoke about what the future holds for his Cup Series team. According to him, he wants to take the next step in terms of competition and technology.
Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, he said, “The whole idea and premise then was, we were going to be starting to build the cars at the end of ’19. 2020 was when we were going to be rolling out, obviously the whole word changed, all got pushed back. We are kind of one year behind where we though we were going to be.
“We’re trying to have two really strong cars for next year.”
Can Rick Ware deliver on his promise?
Sadly, the team has been a perennial backmarker through the course of its NASCAR tenure. The outfit’s highest position has been 33rd in the championship. Unfortunately, it does not seem like much will improve on the championship front, with several drivers running part-time.

Now, Rick Ware will be hoping that 2022 brings better fortunes and that the team can expand to two cars. However, everyone knows that getting a charter for an extra car is not easy. Additionally, there is the issue of finding a driver and getting a sponsor for the driver as well.
2022 is an important year because it marks the debuts of the Next Gen cars. These cars have been tested extensively and, despite the launch earlier this year, are still being tested. This is largely because NASCAR wants to iron out any potential kinks that could arise in the future. Until then, the drivers and teams will be focused on closing out the current season, with four races until the playoffs.
