Jesy Nelson is reportedly set to release her debut single as a solo artist next month.

After leaving chart-topping girl group Little Mix in December to focus on her mental health and well-being, the 30-year-old went on to sign a solo album deal with Polydor in May.

Since then, she’s teased fans with hints of what’s to come, sharing clues on social media, including a soundless clip of her music playing in an audio recording computer programme in a studio.

Now, according to The Sun, Jesy’s first song is complete, and she’s spent the past few days in rehearsals with dancers for the music video.

Speaking to the publication, a music insider described how Jesy’s hard work on new music at the beginning of the year means ‘it has all come together quite quickly’.

They continued: ‘Her new record label Polydor are keen to strike while the iron is hot, so they are throwing everything at her project and want the first single out in a matter of weeks.’

The insider claimed that the track is ‘more upbeat than some might be expecting’, and that there will be ‘plenty’ of dancing in the video.

‘The difference this time is that she is not comparing herself to her bandmates. It’s been so refreshing for her,’ the source added.

‘Jesy has been working hard and is feeling really positive about this new chapter of her career.’

The singer left Little Mix in December after nine years with the band, who made history on The X Factor as the first group to win the show.

When she announced her solo album deal just five months later, fans were surprised at the move.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Jesy explained: ‘I feel like there’s been a few people who don’t understand why I left Little Mix but am now in the studio making music. A lot of people said, “I thought you came out of the band to focus on your mental health?”

‘I never said when I put out my statement, that I was coming out of the band to never be in the public eye, perform again or do music. I said I was coming out of the band because I genuinely couldn’t deal with the pressure of being in a girl band.’

The star added that her way of working on her mental health was ‘going to the studio, and creating music that I love’.

‘That’s what clears my head and makes me happy. It’s good for my mental health.’
