Olly Alexander has been spotted for the first time since downplaying Doctor Who rumours, and he’s still giving nothing away.

The music star and actor, 31, was recently rumoured to be replacing Jodie Whittaker on the BBC science fiction series, but he’s remained coy about the possibility of stepping into the Tardis.

The Years & Years frontman was seen wearing a Barbra Streisand jumper after guest presenting Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio 1, teaming the snazzy jumper with oversized purple flared jeans and platformed white boots.

The It’s A Sin actor accessorised his look with a cross-body brown bag and he wore a black face mask, as well as a chunky gold chain and a colourful necklace that was embellished with a selection of small colourful gems.

He is guest-presenting on BBC Radio 1 this week after Annie Mac’s departure from the station.

Last week it was revealed that Jodie would be leaving Doctor Who in 2022 after five years, leaving fans heartbroken, and it didn’t take long for rumours to circulate about her replacement.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes placed Olly at the forefront with 3/1, with Michaela Coel and Richard Ayoade also up there with the bookies’ favourites.

In a recent interview on Capital Breakfast Olly was asked if he was approached for the role, but he remained tight-lipped.

He said: ‘I mean, if I was do you think I’d be able to tell you? It’s true I am very indiscreet, but my lips are sealed.’

He continued: ‘I think it would be amazing, It’s an amazing role, and an amazing show.’

The star became a household name after starring as Ritchie in It’s A Sin, Channel 4’s hard-hitting drama about the Aids epidemic and its devastating impact on the gay community.

Olly then went on to perform the Pet Shop Boys track It’s A Sin at the 2021 Brit awards with legend Sir Elton John.
