BBC presenter Rory Cellan-Jones has confirmed his exit from the broadcaster after 40 years as BBC News technology correspondent.
The 63-year-old said his role as tech correspondent has been the ‘best job imaginable’ but it was time to explore new ventures.
Sharing the news on Twitter, he wrote: ‘Some personal news..in late October I shall be leaving the BBC.
‘I’ve had the most fabulous time working with brilliant people, but after 40 years it’s time to move on…’
He went on to share some of his personal highlights from his time at the BBC, which saw him grow from starting a researcher on Look North, BBC News for Yorkshire, before reporting on shows such as the Money Programme in the 1990s, and fronting his radio series Tech Tent which he launched in 2014.
His BBC colleagues were quick to pass on their well-wishes on Twitter.

Naga Munchetty tweeted: ‘You utterly brilliant man – You will be sorely missed x
BBC Middle East editor, Jeremy Bowen, added: ‘Congratulations on a brilliant BBC career. Big gap left behind.
‘I remember @ruskin147 as a dynamic young producer at BBC Lime Grove Studios in the mid 80s when I was a BBC trainee. The years roll by, and then they race by… not sure what happens after that.’
