The Weeknd might stick to dating famous women going forward after admitting to feeling ‘guilty’ for bringing non-celebrities into his fast-paced lifestyle.

The Blinding Lights singer has enjoyed high-profile relationships with Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez in recent years.

He’s currently believed to be single but was spotted enjoying a dinner date with Angelina Jolie sparking dating rumours, although it was possibly a business meeting with The Weeknd making the foray into acting.

It seems The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has tried the ‘regular’ dating pool, that is dating non-famous women, but it apparently hasn’t worked out for him so far.

When asked how he feels about bringing non-celebrities into his life in the public eye, the Canadian musician told British GQ: ‘Yes. I do feel guilty. For sure. That’s why I try not to do too much.

‘I just try not to bring attention to myself. And I just love being in normal situations, man. It’s such a great feeling. To be able to just like go on a walk and not be in a f*****g SUV.’

The 31-year-old has given his personal life an overhaul in recent years, including choosing a life of sobriety after kicking drugs.

‘Drugs were a crutch. It was me thinking that I needed it,’ he admitted.

‘And not doing the work to figure out how not to need it. And I’ve spent the last few years realising that and thanking God that I don’t need it. Because for a lot of people, it’s hard to shake it. But I knew I didn’t want it.’

The R&B star revealed that he was partly inspired to kick substances to the curb after realising that he wants to have kids in the future.

‘It’s tough to play the long game with drugs in the picture. Right. And I eventually want a family. I know I say I don’t, but I know I do. I want children,’ he said.

The Weeknd will return to music this week with the release of his new single, Take My Breath, on Friday. It was recorded for the Team USA Women’s Track & Field team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
