Mikaela Mayer Reveals Why the Fight Against Maiva Hamadouche Didn’t Happen
Mikaela Mayer claims to be dreaming about unifying all four super lightweight belts under her name in the future. Following her world title win in October last year, Mayer has already defended the strap against Erica Anabella Farias in June. However, as she might have targeted the IBF belt to add to her shoulder, ‘MM’ had seemingly wanted to go against Maiva Hamadouche.
However, the stellar fantasy fight didn’t meet its potential and became irrelevant after some time. While several people blamed Mayer and accused her of avoiding the fight, the WBO titlist has finally addressed the whole scenario. In a chat with The Schmo, Mikaela Mayer talked about several things, including a potential fight against Hamdouche.
Mayer said, “I won the WBO world title in October and in boxing there’s four belts. It’s the four-belt era. To win all four belts to become undisputed. So that’s my goal at 130 and so I wanted to unify right away with other champions after I won in October.”
“We tried to get that fight done with IBF champ Maiva Hamadouche and it didn’t happen. You ger people on social media saying ‘Oh you are scared, this and that’. Like no, I am pushing for these fights. I want these fights to happen. At the end of the day, the promoters have to agree.”

Meanwhile, the female super lightweight division holds several big names, and four different contenders hold the four belts. So, it leaves two more options before Mayer other than Maiva Hamadouche.
Who can Mikaela Mayer fight next?
If a title unification is what the WBO champion dreams about, then we might see her go against WBA champion Hyun Mi Choi or WBC titlist Terri Harper. All of these fights have the potential to produce fireworks, emerging as gruesome encounters. However, all the related promoters need to fall under the terms.
Besides, Mayer will also have her mandatory contenders for her WBO strap. Hence, it’s still too early to predict an immediate clash for the 31-year-old. However, the current scenario cites several options before her. What should Mikaela Mayer do next?
