Strictly Come Dancing is officially underway for 2021 as the first three celebrity contestants in the line-up were revealed.
After months of speculation over who will compete in Strictly this year, fans are finally being told the first celebs who will show off their moves in front of the judges alongside their professional dancers.
Although there are still many unconfirmed rumours we can now officially add Tom Fletcher to the class of 2021.
He was the very first name revealed on Wednesday night’s episode of The One Show and he has big shoes to fill as his band mate Harry Judd previously won Strictly in 2011. His wife Giovanna meanwhile triumphed on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! last year.
Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Amoj Rajan Tom said he felt ‘equal parts excited and terrified’ but confessed he feels ‘naked without a guitar’ – a big part of his day job.
But who is our first star of Strictly 2021?
Who is Tom Fletcher?
Tom, 36, is best known for being the lead singer and guitarist in pop rock group McFly along with Harry, Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones. The group have been together on and off since 2003 releasing singles such as 5 Colours In Her Hair, Obviously and more recently, You’re Not Special.
When he is not making music in McFly, or indeed McBusted, Tom also writes children’s books such as The Christmasaurus and There’s A Unicorn in your Book. In 2017 he launched a children’s book club with WHSmith.
The star has been married to author Giovanna since 2012 and the couple share sons Buzz, Buddy and Max.
When does Strictly 2021 start?
We have no official start date for Strictly Come Dancing 2021 yet as the celebs will only just be starting rehearsals for the launch.
Last year’s launch aired on October 17 and the live shows kicked off a week later.
This series will reportedly run for around 13 weeks.
