AEW chief Tony Khan has blasted Max Caster’s controversial rap and insisted it shouldn’t have made it on air.

The wrestling company’s boss had some strong words for the promo cut by the 32-year-old star during this week’s episode of AEW Dark as he called it ‘terrible’ and revealed he would be taking over editing of the promotion’s B-shows as a result.

During the crude rap, he referenced Simone Biles having to drop out of some Olympic events this summer due to mental health struggles, while also joking about the Duke lacrosse case.

Caster also made crude comments about tag team rivals Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison’s manager Julia Hart, and made controversial marks about COVID-19 PCR tests.

Appearing on Busted Open, Khan said: ‘Last night on Dark, Max Caster’s rap was terrible. I was not out there in the moment when he did it. It was not during Dynamite, I was out back when Max had said this rap.

‘I had not heard it until last night, truthfully. In the editing process it should’ve been caught. We deleted the episode and reposted it with that edited out, but it shouldn’t have aired.

“Going forward, I will be taking care of the editing of Dark and Elevation myself.”@TonyKhan addresses Max Caster’s controversial promo on #AEWDark last night 🔊@davidlagreca1 @THETOMMYDREAMER @AEW #AEWDynamite #AEW pic.twitter.com/FErCnhWin7

‘I put such tight controls on Dynamite, and this would never have happened there because Max’s raps I’ve always gone over with him there. And frankly, every segment on Dynamite, I don’t write or script any promos, but the bullet points I give.’

In response to the controversy, Khan confirmed he will be in charge of both Dark and Elevation, although he admitted he already does ‘a lot’ of work.

‘So in this case it shouldn’t have happened, and what will happen going forward is I’ll be taking over the editing of Dark and Elevation myself,’ he explained.

‘I was already editing Dynamite and Rampage and I do a lot, and now I’ll also be editing Dark and Elevation. It’s unfortunate that it came to that.’

Max Caster is yet to make a public statement on the controversy.
