Britney Spears has spoken directly to fans on Instagram as she shared an update amid her ongoing conservatorship battle.

The singer, wearing a red bikini, gave a rare video message on Instagram on Thursday giving a very brief update on the legal tussle as she tries to have the conservatorship she has been under since 2008 removed.

The 39-year-old has stepped up her mission to have her dad Jamie removed as co-conservator after 13 years, hiring a new lawyer and requesting accountant Jason Rubin take Jamie’s place.

Britney, wearing white rimmed sunglasses and her hair in a ponytail said in an Instagram video: ‘I’m sure a lot of you guys are wondering how I’m doing and since the cat is out of the bag, literally out of the bag, and you guys know my situation, I do wanna let you guys know that things are way better than what I ever anticipated.

‘And here are a couple of questions you guys asked me apart from the drama in the conservatorship.’

The video then switched to Britney standing in a white, floral patterened dress telling fans her favourite clothing store and her favourite scented lotion.

Revealing she is a fan of J Crew, Britney said: ‘I like the fact that they have clothes for men and women and I got this dress from there.’

The If You Seek Amy singer also shared her favourite Miley Cyrus track is We Can’t Stop because it’s ‘really cool’ and her favourite scented lotion is vanilla ‘because it smells so fresh and girly and summery and I’ve always been a vanilla girl.’

Fans have speculated that the new video was her way of mocking Q&A videos she has done in the past where she answered questions such as ‘What’s your favourite holiday?’ and ‘What is your favourite business trip that you ever took?’.

Britney recently gave an emotional and explosive testimony in court during a hearing in Los Angeles, in which she said she wanted her father charged with conservatorship abuse.

The star is hoping to have all restrictions lifted and to regain control over her personal and financial decisions by having the conservatorship removed after 13 years.

She has vowed to keep speaking out about her situation and warned that she is ‘not even close’ to be done.

‘I was told to stay quiet about things for so long and I finally feel like I’m just getting here,’ she wrote on Instagram.
