Emmerdale fans’ heartache as Sarah Sugden suffers terrifying collapse

EMMERDALE fans were left distraught tonight as Sarah Sugden suffered a terrifying collapse. 

Sarah – who is played by Katie Hill in the ITV soap – spiralled tonight as she became convinced she’s going to die like Leanna Cavanagh.

Leanna was shoved off a bridge last month by Meena Jutla after the evil nurse admitted she’s a serial killer but her death was ruled a tragic accident. 

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Sarah bumped into Leanna’s dad Liam at her graveyard.

Liam reminisced about Leanna, telling Sarah she had been planning to go travelling and to university. 

But suddenly the grieving father was consumed by dark thoughts as he mused about the power of fate.

Wishing Sarah good luck, he said bitterly: “And I mean good luck, because that’s all life boils down to in the end.

“Eat your greens, leave the booze, buy a bike, join a gym. It all counts for nothing if fate decides that today is your day.”

Sarah began breathing heavily and ran off while an oblivious Liam knelt down by Leanna’s grave.

Viewers later saw Sarah return home, clutching her chest and falling to the floor as she struggled to breathe.

The emotional scenes were shown from Sarah’s perspective with wobbly camerawork – and it left fans upset. 

One fan tweeted: “Oh no, Sarah!”

Another added: “Omg poor Sarah.”

Viewers know that Sarah had a heart transplant back in 2018 after suffering from heart failure. 

Soap bosses have revealed that Sarah decides to contact her donor in upcoming scenes following her collapse.

Actress Katie recently told Inside Soap magazine: “I’m so pleased that Emmerdale is revisiting Sarah’s dramatic past.

“Sarah has a very problematic medical history, and doctors have told her that she might have a shortened life.

“So with Leanna dying and Granny Faith’s mystery illness all her fears are definitely heightened… she’s consumed by utter fear.

“Sarah is determined to learn about (her donor family), and I can tell you that she’s really determined.

“Sarah starts investigating things for herself, and she does find someone in the family who agrees to meet her.”
