Jenna Dewan has spoken out in an effort to clarify comments she made about ex-husband Channing Tatum during a recent interview.

The Step Up actress appeared on Monday’s episode of the Dear Gabby podcast where she explained Channing was away due to work commitments after they welcomed daughter Everly, now eight, to the world in 2013.

However, she took to Twitter on Tuesday to ensure her comment was no taken the wrong way after being ‘distorted’ by headlines.

The Soundtrack star wrote: ‘It’s unfortunate that countless media outlets have taken an important conversation on a woman’s experience with postpartum issues and pulled quotes to make it appear that I was slamming my daughter’s father, something I would never do.

‘As two working parents, we both face challenges at the time but I speak only for myself and not about him.’

The 40-year-old continued: ‘Anyone who actually listens to the interview, something I will encourage everyone to do, will clearly see that my words have been distorted for collection to push false, salacious gossip with no regard for the actual people involved, or the message intended.’

Step Up star Jenna, who is also mother to 16-month-old son Callum Michael Rebel with fiance Steve Kazee, had been speaking on the podcast about her experience of working and traveling with Everly after giving birth.

She explained: ‘I had to travel with her and at the time, Chan wasn’t available to be with us for the most part. So, it was me, my doula, and Evie all by ourselves traveling at six weeks.

‘I did have her on set with me constantly. It was just really difficult.’

The star went on to add that she had ‘a lot of postpartum anxiety’ at the time, saying: ‘It was like, I just never stopped. You know, you’re up a couple times in the night and then you’re working all day.
