Love Island 2021: Hugo Hammond shuts down any chance of going on a date with Amy Day – as she blasts him as ‘fake’

Dumped islanders Hugo Hammond and Amy Day have dished on the prospect of romance in the outside of Love Island – and it’s not looking good.

On tonight’s episode, Hugo and Amy were two of the four islanders dumped from the villa, joining Clarisse Juliette and Sam Jackson while Tyler Cruickshank and Mary Bedford were saved.

Hugo had been on the show since the very first day, bringing Amy back to the main villa with him after meeting her in Casa Amor.

While he and Amy remained a couple, it was apparent that their connection had begun to falter by the time they were eliminated together.

After Hugo described his quest for love on Love Island as tragic as Amy stood awkwardly right next to him, both have now revealed that their romance has completely fizzled.

Following his exit, Hugo said that while he and Amy ‘got on really well’ when they first met, in the end, he felt like by the time they returned to the main villa, it felt like ‘a bit like a holiday romance’, where ‘you go away and you think it’s amazing and then you come back to the real life and the cracks almost start to show a little bit’.

When asked whether he thought they might go on a date, Hugo bluntly replied: ‘I don’t think so.’

‘I think she will reciprocate that. I’m sure we’ll go out in groups and whatnot, but I can’t imagine we’ll be going out for a dinner anytime soon,’ he said.

While it sounds like Hugo imagines a friendship with Amy could be on the cards, it doesn’t seem like she feels the same way.

When asked how she feels about Hugo now, Amy replied: ‘Fake – because he wasn’t telling me that he didn’t like me.’

‘I do wish I’d opened up and re-coupled with someone else. Also, 100% I did not sleep with Hugo,’ she said.

Amy added that while it felt ‘natural and normal’ when she and Hugo first met, when they arrived back in the main villa, she found him ‘very hot and cold’.

‘He would never naturally choose to come and chill with me. So for me it felt it was all for show,’ she said.

Hopefully Hugo and Amy will both have better luck finding love in the real world.

Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
