The islanders have chosen to save Tyler Cruickshank and Mary Bedford in tonight’s brutal dumping on Love Island, which saw two out of the six at-risk contestants be sent home.

On tonight’s episode, it was up to the girls to decide which boy they would send home and vice versa for the boys.

In the end, Hugo Hammond, who’s been in the villa since day one, was axed from the show alongside relative newcomer Sam Jackson.

Amy Day, who was coupled with Hugo, was also sent home along with Clarisse Juliette, who had found herself caught in a love triangle with Tyler and Kaz Kamwi.

Mary, who was saved after forging a romantic connection with Dale Mehmet, said it was ‘bittersweet’ to be saved, as her fellow Casa Amor girls left the programme.

Clarisse admitted that her biggest regret was trusting Tyler’s wording, confessing that she wished she’s slept on her own during her time in Casa Amor.

While Amy put a positive note on her time in the villa, saying it was ‘short and sweet’, Hugo described his search for love on Love Island as ‘tragic’… while Amy was awkwardly standing right next to him.

One fan admitted that their ‘heart hurts’ for Sam, whose time in the villa was cut extremely short after failing to find a strong connection with anyone on the show.

Another person said that while it was ‘logical’ to save Tyler and Mary, they weren’t pleased with the decision that was made.

One viewer expressed their confusion over Hugo not acknowledging Amy in his leaving speech, questioning: ‘I’m not even sure if they’ll make it as a couple to the plane.’

‘Hugo is totally unaware of anyone’s feelings. How would this man say his love life is tragic IN FRONT of Amy?? Like what is that??’ another said.

Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
