“This is Gonna Be My Show” – AEW TNT Champion Miro Reveals the Thought Behind His ‘Redeemer’ Gimmick!

AEW TNT champion Miro aka Rusev from his time in WWE has certainly “re-built” himself. From his days as the lovely babyface who joined the fans in their “Rusev Day” chants in WWE, he’s become a formidable force who just loves to annihilate his opponents inside the AEW ring.

Miro recently manhandled Lee Johnson and retained his TNT title at AEW Dynamite: Homecoming from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ever since Miro walked through the door of AEW, one thing that stood out from his time in WWE is his ability to cut bone-chilling promos. The way he carries himself showcases newborn confidence he has in his abilities.

In a recent interview with Austin Lane of ESPN690 and Action Sports Jax, Miro answered in detail about his character ‘The Redeemer’ which he has been portraying in Tony Khans’ company.

He said that all the hardships he has faced in his life have made him a much more strong individual, who beats his opponents and forgives them.

“He came from exactly what it is. It is the ‘Redeemer’ because as you know, I was somewhere else before. Then came in and I was put in a position to be the best man for Kip’s, Kip Sabian. Which I thought was okay, I love kip. I’m gonna do my due diligence, I’ll help him out. Once that wedding kinda hit, it really kinda gave me PTSD, if you will.”

“And from then on, I decided that this is not gonna be anymore, this is gonna be my show. I’m here to redeem myself, that’s why I’m The Redeemer. I’ve been through so much things in my career that I’m ready to destroy people and forgive them.”

Miro has been a dominant AEW TNT champion

Miro debuted in All Elite Wrestling on the September 9, 2020, episode of Dynamite, where he was revealed as Kip Sabian’s best man before his wedding.

It was not until November when Miro had his first fight under the AEW banner. He competed in his first singles match in which he defeated Trent.

Miro then began a rivalry with Darby Allin and defeated him on an episode of Dynamite to win the AEW TNT Championship, where it looked like he was going to snap Darby in half and was uncomfortable to watch.

Since winning the title, Miro defended the title against Dante Martin on Dynamite, and then again against Lance Archer on Double or Nothing PPV.

Miro defeated and retained his title against Lee Johnson on this week’s Dynamite: Homecoming. Clearly, his current gimmick is getting him over with fans, and these dominant showcases keeps the audience invested in his character.
