Boy, 14, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after man punched and pushed into a river as second teen quizzed

A SCHOOLBOY has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was punched and shoved into a river.

The lad is one of two 14-year-old boys being quizzed by cops today after footage emerged on social media of a shocking attack.

Cops detained the pair after the incident, which happened in quiet Wiltshire market town Devizes, was filmed and posted online.

A team of officers – including two armed response vehicles – were sent out to two addresses in the area before the youngsters were arrested on Thursday.

Officials from the force said today: “We have arrested two 14-year-old boys in connection with two incidents which have been filmed and circulated on social media.

“The first appears to show a man being punched and the second shows the same person being pushed into a river in Devizes.

“A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
and grievous bodily harm.

“A second 14 year old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.


“Both have been released on conditional bail while further enquiries
continue.

“We would ask anyone who encounters this concerning footage not to share it.”
