Love Island’s Amy Day blasts Hugo Hammond as ‘fake’ after that awkward ‘tragic’ comment

Amy Day has blasted Hugo Hammond as ‘fake’, after they were dumped from the Love Island villa.
Original islander Hugo, 24, was sent packing on Thursday night’s show after his fellow islanders chose to save Tyler Cruickshank and Mary Bedford from the chop.
Casa Amor stars Sam Jackson, Clarisse Juliette and Amy Day were also dropped, and despite leaving the villa together, it looks like Amy and Hugo won’t be having a drinks date at the airport.
The 25-year-old blasted Hugo as ‘fake’ for not telling her that he didn’t like her.
Speaking after her exit, the actress said: ‘I do wish I’d opened up and re-coupled with someone else. Also, 100 per cent I did not sleep with Hugo.’
Amy said that she believes Hugo’s interest in her was ‘all for show’ as he immediately cooled off when they returned to the main villa.
She said: ‘It was almost instant, the next day, he was very hot and cold. He would never naturally choose to come and chill with me. So for me it felt it was all for show.

‘[My feelings were real], they really were and everyone could see that. I think at the end, everyone questioned why on earth he just wasn’t reciprocating what I was giving. I tried.
‘I was being 100% genuine and real and I was a little bit messed around, but I loved the experience. I’ve definitely learned what I don’t want and how I should be treated in a relationship.’
Now that she’s left the villa without finding love, Amy regrets not getting to know the other boys, saying: ‘I’m glad I went with Hugo as that’s what felt right. But I’m sad that I didn’t explore more in the Villa.
‘I think me and Sam [Jackson] would have really got on. Sam was very genuine. He’s easy to talk to, very handsome and I could just tell he’s actually genuine. And he wasn’t forcing anything, he was just being himself.

‘I’d go on a date with Sam – a restaurant in London, eat good food, rooftop bar and loads of drinks.’
Amy made her feelings on Hugo’s opinion towards her quite clear last night, after the PE teacher called his quest for love ‘tragic’ – all while standing next to the woman he’d most recently coupled up with.
Reflecting on his time in the villa, during which he had friend couplings with Sharon Gaffka and Chloe Burrows and failed romances with AJ Bunker and Georgia Townend, Hugo said: ‘My search for love in there, erm, “tragic” is probably the word for it. But you I know I walk away with my head held high, I stayed true to myself and I look forward to the next chapter of what life has in store for Mr Hammond.’
At the mention of the word ‘tragic’, Amy’s eyes nearly popped out of her head, and viewers were equally as stunned by the awkward pieing.
More: Love Island
The pair missed a dramatic night in the villa, as the remaining islanders competed to choose clips from the villa to watch.
In the part of the challenge aired so far, Liberty Poole has heard her boyfriend Jake Cornish say he doesn’t want to rip her clothes off, and Teddy Soares has watched as Faye Winter flirted with Sam.
And more trouble is ahead, as the teaser for Friday’s episode showed Teddy and Faye having a screaming match.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
