Stranger Things star David Harbour responded in the best way when a fan asked why we wouldn’t get our hands on season four of the sci-fi drama until 2022.

Netflix bosses announced that the upcoming episodes will not be released on the platform until next year, but did give us a teaser over what we can expect.

Fans have been left gutted over the news, with one unimpressed follower commenting below the official Netflix Instagram page with the message: ‘Man hell no tf y’all doin over there at Netflix man gimme a camera and 5 days I have that s**t out by next week [sic].’

Side note: We’d actually enjoy seeing them attempt to make their own version of the show in less than a week, to be fair.

Making light of the reaction on his own page, David – who plays Jim Hopper – shared a photo of him in character with a huge flamethrower, as you do.

‘Ya boy Jim gonna bring the HEAT to 2022…(sorry, sorry). Go check out the sneak peak on every cast member’s Instagram,’ he captioned the upload, while also highlighting that user’s comment. ‘Psyched to work with Xavier who is directing all episodes of season 5!’

Quickly clearing up that season five joke, he continued: (I can’t believe I have to do this, but in the age of internet click bait nonsense…the season 5 reference is a joke referring to a comment made on @netflix page about how long the show takes to film that I thought was funny.

‘Since season 4 has already been shot (mostly), the only way to make a joke about this person possible directing the show would be if the show had a 5th season.

‘I personally have no knowledge of a fifth season, nor do I know if Netflix has made any decisions regarding further seasons of the show. It is a joke, based on a silly premise [sic].’

David also insisted that he has nothing else to ‘reveal’, except: ‘Hopper looks awesome this season and I’m excited for you to see it.

‘And I’m just another dummy, making dumb jokes on this silly app cause I need attention apparently. But we’ll save my psych profile for another post.)’

Noted.

Little else is known about what season four has in store for us, with those involved staying tight-lipped as per usual.

However, Sadie Sink, who stars as Max Mayfield, teased that the upcoming series will be ‘really, really dark’.

Chatting to PA, she confessed: ‘It’s definitely a really, really dark season.

‘Each season the production scale gets bigger and bigger and the stakes are really, really high this year, as they are always.

‘But there’s something about this season, it’s really intense.’

Stranger Things is available to stream on Netflix now.
