WWE’s Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox challenge The Undertaker and Kane to Casket Inferno match

Could they tempt them out of retirement? (Pictures: WWE)

WWE superstars Shotzi and Nox have set their sights high after joining the SmackDown roster – and they’ve called out the Brothers of Destruction.

The blue brand’s newest duo have already beaten Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina twice, and they have a pretty spectacular dream match in mind.

Welsh wrestler Tegan Nox exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘Let’s wrestle Kane and Undertaker in an Inferno Casket match! We can do it in Cardiff, you know? [They] might have a spare five minutes on their hands to fly to the UK.’

Her partner Shotzi Blackheart instantly agreed and called on the Dead Man to ‘come out of retirement’.

Given Nox’s admiration for the Big Red Machine – her occasional Lady Kane persona is testament to that – it’s no surprise she’s called out the Brothers of Destruction.

However, the scarceness of inter-gender wrestling within WWE – and with the Dead Man retired and Kane kept busy as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee – she might have to set her sights on something more achievable but still spectacular.

She added: ‘Honestly, I would like to have – when SmackDown comes to the UK, I would just like to wrestle for the title in Cardiff. That would be a dream come true. My nephew can watch me challenge for titles in WWE – that’d be cool!’

Of course, another legend they known all too well is NXT boss Triple H, and Nox revealed their boss had some words of wisdom for both stars as they left the black and gold brand behind them.

‘We didn’t really see him until after the first match back in front of the live crowd. That’s when he gave us advice and a really nice talk to each other. They were kinda private talks between us,’ she smile.

‘I had one and Shotzi had one. It wasn’t just like, “Congratulations, do this!” It was very personal to each of us, so that was a really cool moment. I know it was a very cool moment for me, because I was like, “Is Triple H still talking to me?” [laughs]’

Everything is going right for the duo now, but wrestling is full of setbacks – including the perilous nature of live television.

‘I have a really great botch,’ Shotzi laughed. ‘I think I went for a springboard on Toni [Storm] and then I got to the top and just went face-first onto the mat, not anywhere near Toni!

‘That’s probably one of my favourites. I think about it now and I’m like, that’s great – never doing a springboard ever again!’

The important thing is to not let slipups – even in front of a packed crowd – affect you too much, and Shotzi explained that she finds it easy to shrug them off now.

‘It’s live TV! Things happen! You can’t control them. Wrestling is very physical, there’s a lot going on. Botches happen! Just laugh at yourself and move on,’ she said.

Sometimes, the mishaps or difficult moments are more serious than an in-ring mistake though, with injuries and mental health struggles a part of any performer or athlete’s life.

On the need to look after yourself beyond the physical demands, Shotzi noted that it’s absolutely paramount.

‘It’s just as important as anything physical that happens to our body. Our brain – that’s the centre right there, that’s how we live our life,’ she added. ‘I’m very open about working on that. Exercising is very important, but exercising your brain is just as important.’

*WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
