How to apply to be on The Wheel

The Wheel is the latest game show getting audiences in a spin on Saturday nights.

BAFTA award-winning Michael McIntyre hosts the BBC game show, which is packed with huge stars, big laughs and a really, really big wheel.

The premise of The Wheel involves three contestants who hope to answer their way to a fortune, and are helped by the seven celebrities around them. Each celebrity has brought one area of expertise to the show – and it is in these areas that the contestants must answer questions.

The contestants themselves are underneath The Wheel, on another smaller wheel. This Contestant Wheel is spun, and whichever contestant is randomly selected, rises up on their chair, to take their place at the centre of the main stage and begin the game.

If you see yourself rising up to take on the wheel, how can one apply for the series?

How to apply for BBC’s The Wheel

Hopeful participants were asked to submit their applications online for the season currently airing.

However, applications closed on May 24, 2021.

It isn’t clear when (or if) a new season will go ahead, but if it does, applications will likely open through that website.

If applications do reopen, you must be at least 18-years-old to appear on the show.

When the second season – currently airing – was confirmed, Michael McIntyre said in a statement: ‘I am thrilled by the success of The Wheel. The series was so much fun to host and I love how the gameplay in every show was so different but always entertaining and suspenseful.

‘And having socially distanced strangers sing “The Wheel” to me on my daily walk has been the unexpected pleasure of lockdown!’
