‘It’ll Be Fun to Punch You in the Face’- Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler Get Into a Heated Altercation During an Interview
The much-anticipated lightweight fight between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler was recently finalized. After months of back and forth, the two men are set to collide as the co-main event at UFC 267. The main event will be the rematch for the welterweight title between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
In a recent interview prior to UFC 265, Justin Gaethje was invited to the weigh-in show. Hosted by Michael Chandler his next opponent among other people. During the interview, Gaethje shared his thoughts on his next fight with Chandler.
He said, “I got nothing mean to say. We do mean things to each other one night a year. It’s been a while since I fought someone I didn’t like. For some reason, you’re a little different. I think it was James Vick, the last guy I fought that I didn’t like. It’ll be fun to punch you in the face”
‘The Highlight’ continued, “I’m excited to fight someone I don’t like,” Gaethje said. “It’s been a while. I have no reason not to like you. Something about your face just makes me want to punch it”
Will the winner of Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler fight for the belt?
Chandler and Gaethje and ranked number two and four respectively in the UFC’s lightweight rankings. Both men suffered a loss in their last outings which happened to be for the belt. While Gaethje succumbed to Nurmagomedov, Oliveira stopped Chandler in round two.
Both men are without a doubt two of the best fighters, not just at lightweight but in the UFC period. ‘The Diamond’ will take on ‘Do Bronx’ for the title sometime soon. Islam Makhachev is taking on Rafael dos Anjos later this year. If Makhachev were to secure a win over ‘RDA’ he would be next in line for a title shot without a doubt. However, if he stumbles against ‘RDA’, the winner of Gaethje vs Chandler would be next in line without a doubt.
