“Let’s Make It Happen”: Coco Gauff Agrees To Replace Venus Williams in Nick Kyrgios’ Team

American teenager Coco Gauff has been one of the most talented youngsters on the Tour. The teenaged American has managed to cause quite a few upsets over the years. She has knocked out players like Naomi Osaka and Venus Williams at the Grand Slam stages.

Recently, Coco Gauff agreed to partner with Australian tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios in the mixed doubles competition at the Australian Open 2022. In recent times, the Australian player has partnered with superstar players like Venus Williams at the Wimbledon Championships.

However, that journey ended in an unfortunate circumstance as the pair had to withdraw from the event due to Kyrgios’ injury during his singles match against Felix Auger Aliassime. However, the Australian talent is partnering with American teenager Coco Gauff and we do hope the pair manage to compete as a team together. 

Nick Kyrgios and Coco Gauff to team up?

The American teenager replied to Kyrgios’ request. The Australian star stated, “MIXED at Aussie Open?” To which, the young American replied, “Let’s make it happen.” From the looks of it, it seems as if the duo might compete as a team in the upcoming season’s first Grand Slam event. 

Reflecting on the season so far, Gauff began competing in Melbourne at the Australian Open but lost in the second round. Later, she had a successful clay season and came as far as the quarterfinal.

At the Wimbledon Championships, she lost in the pre-quarterfinal round to former champion, German tennis player Angelique Kerber. 

On the other hand, Kyrgios has not played many tournaments. He has only played the Australian Open and the Wimbledon Championships amongst Grand Slam events. We wish both players the very best for the rest of the season and when they play as a team together.
