Nicole Kidman has taken the dedication to her craft further than ever, after revealing she stayed in character for five months on the set of Nine Perfect Strangers.
The actress stars in the new Hulu drama as Masha, a quirky wellness retreat director.
Nine Perfect Strangers is directed by Jonathan Levine and based on Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty’s 2018 bestselling novel of the same name.
Nicola prepared for the role by going fully method and not responding to her name for the whole shoot.
Speaking during a Television Critics Association panel, the 50-year-old said she was ‘bats*** crazy’ while filming took place
‘I’d only respond as Masha. I wanted a very calm healing energy to emanate all the time so I remember going over to people and sort of putting my hand on their heart, holding their hand, they would talk to me or use my name Nicole when I would completely ignore them,’ she said.

‘The only way I could actually relate to people was that way because I felt like otherwise I would be doing a performance and I didn’t want to feel that way.’
It’s pretty impressive dedication to the role, and fans will get the chance to see the results very soon.

The show’s synopsis states: ‘These nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.’
The trailer shows her unconventional methods and the effects, which are clearly not what the ‘nine perfect strangers’ anticipated.
Nine Perfect Strangers arrives on Amazon Prime UK on August 2020.
