WATCH: When Roger Federer Won an Event as a 12-Year-Old Kid
Tennis has been carried forward by many exceptional players of each generation. Speaking over the past two decades, one cannot forget to mention Roger Federer’s name when it comes to tennis. Over the years, he has been a great ambassador for the sport as well as a role model for youngsters.
As it is the 40th birthday of Roger Federer, we look back at some of the best moments in his career. However, the one that caught attention was when he won the tournament in Bellinzona. He was a 12-year-old boy back then and in the clip, one can notice the flair in his moments while executing his shots.

Roger Federer is one of a kind
Back then, not many would have predicted that Federer would go on to become such a magnanimous figure and a huge asset to the sport. Although there are players like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal catching up, the manner in which the 8-time Wimbledon champion has displayed tennis, has seemed second to none.
Reflecting on Roger’s season so far, he played his first tournament in Doha. After that, he was seen competing in Geneva, prior to the French Open. At Roland Garros, he withdrew himself before the fourth-round match against Matteo Berrettini.

Next up was Halle, during which he lost in the second round to upcoming talent Felix Auger Aliassime. At the Wimbledon Championships, his journey was halted by Hubert Hurkacz, who knocked him out in straight sets.
Since then, Federer has not been seen. He recently pulled out of the ATP Masters 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati. He is still recovering from the knee injury. As a tennis fan, one hopes to see him soon competing on the courts again. It will be interesting to see if he decides to play the US Open this season.
