Chelsea Green Gets in a Legal Battle With WWE

Chelsea Green is fighting a crisis that no one wants to get involved in. She is literally fighting for the right of her name “Chelsea Green” after WWE is trying to keep it to themselves as a trademark.

WWE filed a trademark for “Chelsea Green” when they hired her last year. However, the company looks to keep the trademark with themselves even after they fired Green earlier this year.

WWE replied to Office Action this past week on August 5th, with a consent letter signed by Chelsea Green in which she had given permission to trademark her name, but it was dated back to November last year when Green was still employed.

Chelsea Green might file a lawsuit to settle the matter

Green took to Twitter hinting that she would seek help from the law to get back the trademark for her ‘birth given’ name.

“I never thought I’d be in a legal battle for my BIRTH GIVEN name, Going to discuss it on tomorrow’s episode of @GreenWEnvyPod.” Green wrote.

However, this never stops Green from using her real name under different promotions. Since her release in Aril this year, she has appeared in Ring of Honor (ROH) in the role of a commentator.

We know WWE owns trademarks for certain icons of their promotion; the company has a trademark over the names “John Cena” and “The Rock”.

However, many fans on the internet fans believe that a wrestler always knows what they’re signing for, and Green should not make a fuss about it.

Never should have agreed to sign away the rights for use in wrestling, can’t blame anyone else for that

She can use ‘Chelsea Green’ all she wants in her day to day life. It’s using ‘Chelsea Green’ as her wrestler name when she contracted that wrestler name away to her prior employer. I believe pro wrestlers are adults who know what they are signing
