Mickie James Says WWE Did Not Put Much of a Thought Into the All-Women’s PPV, Evolution

WWE Women’s Division has come a long way since the first time the company began to recruit female pro-wrestlers. During the course of time, the company started a women’s professional wrestling PPV, Evolution.

Unfortunately, Evolution did not become a permanent PPV. Veteran Superstar Mickie James explained how much she wanted it to become a permanent PPV.

“I don’t think that it was “set up to fail” in a sense of where — I just don’t think that much thought was put into it as a whole, and so, by design, it was kind of set up to fail, in a sense. Because I feel like they could have announced a lot of the matches a lot sooner and built to those matches on television.”

“Because there are three hours, five hours of television, even some time on 205 Live and Main Event. There’s different places, so really, close to ten hours of television, plus network, plus all these other things that we could have done to maybe build to the event.”

Mickie James wants WWE to make it a yearly event

In fact, Mickie James revealed that the event was sold out, the crowd liked the storylines, and it wasn’t at the bottom of the list for ratings. Therefore, she is unsure why WWE did not do the PPV again. However, James wants it to become a yearly event.

“I don’t know why we really didn’t do it again because, in my mind, I thought it was very successful. But I also don’t know what the expectations were or how much money it had to generate to then justify to say that it was actually successful. So there are a lot of those factors that go into business decisions.” H/t Fightful

As of now, there are four primary yearly events

Currently, WWE’s primary main events are SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and WrestleMania.

WWE did Royal Rumble 2021 and WrestleMania 37. However, SummerSlam 2021 and Survivor Series still remain.

The company is promoting SummerSlam 2021 for its main event where John Cena and Roman Reigns. On the other hand, The Rock is supposed to come back at Survivor Series 2021.
