Rita Ora made sure to sample a local delicacy while appearing as a judge on The Voice Australia, and it’s safe to say her reaction to Vegemite was nothing short of excellent.

The singer, 30, has been in Australia filming for the singing competition, where her fellow judges made sure she was familiar with the local cuisine.

In a clip from Sunday night’s episode, Rita was presented with a white box by co-star Guy Sebastian, to which Rita joked: ‘Is that a Krispy Kreme doughnut?’

Inside the box was a jar of Vegemite as well as a cracker with the spread already slathered on it, as Guy told her: ‘It’s slightly more savoury. This is a welcome to Australia gift.’

Rita gamely took a bite of the treat as fellow judges Keith Urban and Jessica Mauboy looked on, before making a face and telling them: ‘It’s a little sour isn’t it?’

She then jokingly asked Guy whether he was pregnant after he admitted to enjoying Vegemite with cheese, to which he replied: ‘Some would say!’

Viewers were loving seeing Rita tucking into Vegemite on the show, writing: ‘@RitaOra trying vegemite is the best thing an aussie can see.’

Others added: ‘@ritaora had the best reaction to Vegemite from any international guest. she is officially a honourable Australian citizen now’ and ‘@RitaOra is now a happy little @Vegemite.’

One joked: ‘Can we class @RitaOra as an honourable Aussie Citizen already, she’s picking good artists and she’s tasted vegemite!’

Elsewhere in the episode, Rita added a singer to her team after being blown away by 15-year-old Sofia Watt, who was the same age as Rita was when she got her own record deal.

She told the youngster: ‘You are going to get a lot of yes’s and no’s and that’s just the reality, but the strength that I can hear in your vocal ability, no-one can knock that.’
